Saturday 25th Feb. Felixstowe to Trimley Marshes
A bit short of time today after visiting a friend in the morning but our
lovely nearly new binoculars (Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 10x42 - I love Ebay)
arrived this morning so we were keen to give them a try so the bikes came
out and we headed off to Suffolk Wildlife's Trimley Marshes.
We met our son's girlfiend Jay as we approached the hides and she had
spotted several deer across the fields giving a chance to try the new
bino's - they are fantastic so'oooooooooo clear making our cheap pair look
really sad :( Not that many birds really the highlight being a Marsh
Harrier and being made a hot drink by a couple of members of the Suffolk
Wildlife Trust :) Then it was home up Cordy's Lane again with another
sunset over the docks and to see England sadly lose a close match to Wales
!!!! :(
Sunday 26th Feb. Coney Weston to Knettishall Heath
We were going over to see our old friends Neil and Linda Hurrell in a small
village in Suffolk called Coney Weston where Neil was going to fit two
leisure batteries to our campervan :) and as it was nearly 50 miles from
Felixstowe we decided to stay away the night for the first time this year
:)
Sadly the batteries had not arrived but Neil did the wiring then we had a
lovely lunch before making the most of the sunny day by setting off on a
bike ride, it was five of us including one of Neil and Linda's
grandchildren - a real live wire called Jack :) we were on borrowed bikes
and even though Mag's was on the small side and my gears keep playing up we
made it to the very pretty banks of the Little Ouse at Knettishall Heath -
Neil had seen otters here but we were not so lucky :( but after a chocolate
break we set off back and came across the most wonderful spot where a group
of Tree Sculptors worked carving huge trees with chain saws !!! We were
invited to come in for a closer look as Neil know them and it was amazing
to see them at work :) They were just finishing some pieces for the 2012
Olympic's :) We dropped Jack at home before heading back to get our
van, Mag and I then headed the few miles over to Lackford Lakes where we
stopped the night in their carpark :)
